Told by an older Max reflecting on his childhood, this story begins with feelings of confusion and being different. The whispers of the little blue creatures, the Wolly-Sorrow-Whiffle-Snubs, fill Max with self-doubt until Ammar (whose name means ""forever"") appears to guide him through a magical journey of understanding. Along their adventure, Ammar shows Max that every person, animal, flower, and star has its own idiosyncrasies (those traits, habits, and curiosities that make each individual beautifully distinct).
