Overview

Matter and Mind in Architecture was the theme of the 7th Alvar Aalto Symposium, thus the title of the book documenting the symposium. It's a theme that might have been construed as somewhat introspective, perhaps out of touch with the present state of commerce, but its purpose was to instigate a discussion of materials and meanings, matter and content, and to encourage architects to participate in the fundamental problems facing the world.
