Mathematical Modeling in Machine Transport Dynamics

Overview

Mathematical modeling is vital when understanding and optimizing machine transport dynamics. By applying principles from physics, engineering, and mathematics, these models simulate real-world transport behaviors, such as acceleration, friction, load distribution, and system response. This enables researchers and engineers to predict performance, identify areas of improvement, and design more efficient and reliable transport mechanisms. As industries rely on automation and smart machinery, mathematical modeling becomes essential for advancing precision, safety, and innovation in transport system design. Mathematical Modeling in Machine Transport Dynamics explores the development of the scientific and methodological basis of modern mechanical engineering, formed by machine science, applied mechanics, the theory of mechanisms and machines, vibration theory, applied system analysis, and the theory of automatic control. It examines the technical facilities for technological and transport purposes operating under conditions of intensive dynamic loading. This book covers topics such as machine theory, mechanical systems, and transportation engineering, and is a useful resource for business owners, engineers, academicians, researchers, and scientists.

Author Information

Andrey V. Eliseev , Cand. Sc. (Eng.), is Associate Professor at two institutions: Dept. of Mathematics, Irkutsk State Transport University, and Dept. of Engineering & Standardization, Irkutsk National Research Technical University. He holds an MSc in Mechanics & Mathematics from Novosibirsk State University and additional qualifications in economic theory. He defended his PhD (2015) at Southwestern State University (Kursk) on vibrational dynamics in technological systems with unilateral constraints. From 2011-2021, he worked under Prof. Sergey V. Eliseev, a leading expert in vibration protection. Eliseev's primary research focus is developing structural mathematical models for intensely loaded technical systems, uniquely applying automatic control theory to mechanical oscillatory dynamics. He is a prolific co-author of over 300 scientific papers, 30+ inventions, and co-authored monographs on vibration isolation and dynamic condition assessment for machinery. Nikolay K. Kuznetsov , Dr. Sc. (Eng.), Professor, heads the Department of Engineering and Standardization at Irkutsk National Research Technical University (IRNTU). An alumnus of Irkutsk Polytechnic Institute (1973, Aviation Engineering), his career began at the Irkutsk branch of NIAT (1973-1976). He has been associated with Irkutsk Polytechnic University (now IRNTU) since 1976, progressing from graduate student to Associate Professor in the Department of Theoretical Mechanics (1976-1984). Following significant leadership of the mechatronics laboratory at the Irkutsk Scientific Center, SB RAS (1984-1996), he returned to IRNTU, rising to Professor and subsequently Head of his current department (since 2008). A prominent follower of S.V. Eliseev's school in active vibration protection, Kuznetsov has made substantial contributions to developing methods for the dynamic synthesis of controlled machines, specifically considering elasticity of the links. His prolific output includes co-authoring over 230 scientific works: 7 monographs, 8 textbooks, 15 patents, and 30 articles indexed in WoS/Scopus. He has supervised 5 successful PhD candidates and chairs the IRNTU Dissertation Council.
