An introduction by Carren StrockMany shared their own poignant stories. One woman, sobbing and clutching my book, approached me at a reading. I came to thank you. I thought I was the only married woman ever to have fallen in love with another woman, she said, pausing often to regain her composure. Finally she told me, I was so terrified I decided to kill myself. Then I found your book, and it saved my life.

Married women who love women were not the only ones to contact me. I received mail from single lesbians who thanked me for helping them gain a better understanding of the married women they loved and from straight women who thanked me for helping them to better understand what their sisters/daughters/mothers or friends were going through.

While Married Women Who Love Women draws basically from women's perspectives, notes from husbands, also searching for answers and understanding, told me that I had only scraped the surface of this issue. Like their wives, they were grateful to learn they were not the only ones experiencing these surprising or shocking marital changes. One husband wrote, My wife, feeling totally alienated by her newly discovered feelings, confided in me, and it was me who found and bought Married Women Who Love Women for her.Ironically, now that she has come to terms with her sexuality, she absolutely exudes sexuality, and I find her more attractive than ever. But we are pretty realistic about everything and will just see what happens. Another husband wrote, I still love my emerging-lesbian wife and am struggling to find a graceful way to let our relationship evolve into a friendship that will last longer than any union or marriage.
