Neil S. Jacobson, PhD (deceased), was Professor of Psychology at the University of Washington. A prolific contributor to the literature of both psychology and couple therapy, he published numerous influential books, including Reconcilable Differences (with Andrew Christensen). Past President of the Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy and Master Lecturer for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Dr. Jacobson was at the forefront of the development of behavioral couple therapy, as well as the treatment of depression and domestic violence. His distinguished contributions to marital and family therapy research were recognized with awards from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Family Therapy Academy, among others.
