Lt Col Havanoor (retd) was born on 15 Sept 1954 in Gulbarga town of Karnataka state in India. He graduated at the age of 19, immediately after which he joined the Indian Army. He wa s commissioned in the Regiment of Sikh Light Infantry at the age of 20. He held various regimental and staff appointments during the course of his service. He4 enjoyed working with the troops, studying their psyche, way of life, language, background, conduct, etc, . He served as Second- in- Command of 16th Battalion The Sikh Light Infantry when the present Chief of the Indian Army was the Commanding Officer of 16 SIKH LI. Infantry life being very busy, he never had time for reading or writing. In fact it was the Commanding Officer who told him that he could be a good writer as his written expression was very good. Col Havanoor took the call, albeit much later after retirement. The author has been writing for news papers, viz: - Times of India, Deccan Herald and the New Indian Express since 2009. Many of his articles have been republished abroad. An article of his was downloaded in some city in the USA on the day it was published and sold for good price in a broom store. This is his first book written lucidly with ample of humour and awe. The book is like a Bible for junior officers of all the armies across the world, profession of arms being universal. It is highly readable even by civilians and layman. This book being his intellectual property, was being sold on line by some people illegally for $55/- per copy.
