It helps people navigate their conditions of release, find housing and employment, build relationships, deal with substance use concerns, navigate health care, and more. Created by members of the Education Justice Project at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, it is based on the experiences of formerly incarcerated people and includes advice and illustrations from those who have gone through reentry. The guide includes a state-wide resource directory and useful mail-in forms. The Education Justice Project has updated this guide every year since 2015 and currently distributes more than 13,000 copies annually.
