Overview

A story about a young girl of 17, her innocence and her leap into maturity by extremely painful circumstances. You will experience, through the eyes of a young wife and mother, the wonder, beauty and culture of a faraway exotic location. The happiness and wonder she experienced while discovering what she believed to be true love, and all the agony of betrayal by the one person she trusted the most. Redemption comes soon enough . . . After having her young son taken away as a toddler, devastating pain brings her to a depression so deep that it takes years to recover. Her strength of will is put through a test when the case crosses over the court systems from two countries: the United States and Greece. During this time, she digs deep for strength she never imagined she had to help her during her struggle to be reunited with him. Twelve and a half grueling years later, she is finally able to hug her son who is no longer a little boy but a young man, searching for answers about the mother he was told was dead.

MAMA SOU is the true story of a young mother who gets her son taken away. This book is pure love and emotion and nearly had me in tears. As the story unfolds, you see how much love Maria has for her son, and how she will do anything to get him back. She is strong, independent, and ready to fight for what is hers. Aside from the incredible story that being told in these pages, the writing is superb and beautifully delivers a fully realized vision of the characters and places they inhabit. It is incredible the lengths that people go to for their family, and the fact this is someone's real story is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Whether you are a parent or not, you will feel the love that went into writing this story, and the emotions between people in the story. The author, the mother herself, pours her heart into every chapter. I've read books like this one, where a young mother struggles to gain her family fact but there is something special about Maria's story. Maybe it's the year it happened, which was some 40 years ago, when these types of things weren't really talked about or maybe it's because it happened in Greece. Either way, it holds a special place in my heart, and I will not forget this story any time soon. As someone who has suffered from depression most of my life, seeing how Maria handled her depression was inspirational. The fact that she was able to fight for what she desperatately needed, all while dealing with mental illness, was incredible. I fully enjoyed this book, I think that whether you have kids or not, you will find special meaning within these pages. The sotry is sometimes harsh, sometimes sweet, but definitely full of lessons to learn for everyone that reads it. I only wish that we could learn more about Maria and her story, and more about her son. - Literary Titan

Author Information

"Maria Griggs is an independent, self-motivated, communicative and charming out-of-the-box entrepreneur with a story to tell. A native of Portugal, she spent several years in Caracas, Venezuela until finally arriving in Boston, Massachusetts with her family. She loves to travel and has visited several locations including Greece, where she lived on and off for 3 years. This is Maria's first attempt at literary work and it began as a journal, or ""catharsis of the soul"" poured on paper, but soon after became a project, largely in part due to the encouragement of friends and family. This story took almost three years to complete. Besides working on the publication of this story, Maria owns her own business and also does Language Interpretation. Always looking for new stimuli, she spends time online researching, learning, and posting online. She is currently working on her next work ""Sweets My Mother Fed Me"" - a kitchen table book, with tales from her native Portugal sprinkled among some delicious family recipes. She lives in Maine with her husband and has four sons -the oldest being the reason for this book. Tyler Clapp is an inquisitive who seeks out stories wherever he can. He graduated from the University of Maine at Machias with a degree in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts, focused on Creative Writing. He is currently working as a Content Creator for Darkfire Graphics, writing stories and comics. In his spare time, Tyler loves to unwind with music, where he finds most of his inspiration, and video games, where he finds just a little bit more."
