OverviewOriginally published in English by the Aperture Foundation and the Center for Creative Photography, this book brings the work of Lola alvarez Bravo to a wider audience. She is known as Mexico's first woman photographer, and indeed as one of the country's first practitioners of the art of photography. This volume presents some 100 black and white photographs, some of them not published before. The text that accompanies the photographs is by Elizabeth Ferrer, an expert in Mexican and Latin American art, and the former director of the Austin Museum of Art and Visual Arts Department and Curator of the Americas Society in New York.
