Reviews

"Portraying this narrative requires immense courage; I can hardly comprehend the bravery needed to live through and feel it firsthand. ""Living in Freedom! Teaching and Volunteering, Great Life Experiences"" is a profoundly impactful book, brimming with lessons and woven with both pain and joy. Nery Barnet Kircher, a musician and poet, epitomizes resilience, and this book serves as a testament to her unyielding spirit. However, courage isn't without its sacrifices; here, we glimpse the heart of the American Dream and the challenging path it entails, illustrating how courage is both forged and wielded. -Ann Collins, Book Reviewer"

Author Information

"Nery has been writing since an early age. The first book she published was in 1983, Algo de Mi, which is a collection of her poems. After retirement, she began writing her memoirs. She had to put it away many times because of painful memories. Finally, during the COVID pandemic, she published Path to Freedom, which became a bestseller on Amazon and appeared in Halo Publishing Company's History of Cuba in January 2021.In this book, she begins by telling the story of her ancestors, their family life during different governments, and her experiences in the forced-labor camps she had to endure to be able to come to the USA. In mid-2021, she published its Spanish translation, Camino a la Libertad. At the end of the same year, she published A Diary of My Dying Father, dedicated to the family's struggles for the survival of their father. Her talent is not limited to writing; it includes music. As a music composer, she has received multiple awards. She believes that she inherited her know-how from her talented mother, Elena Maria.Nery is a very dedicated, civic-minded volunteer, and she has received many commendations for her community involvement. She has been an active member of Civitan International, an organization dedicated to serving the needs of communities around the world, with an emphasis on those suffering from intellectual and developmental disabilities. She feels that she needs to pay forward all the blessings she has received.Nery loves to sing and has passed this passion on to her children and husband, Bob. One of their favorite shared activities is karaoke. She thinks that it is wonderful to enjoy a delicious dinner with friends while singing or listening to others sing. ""What a nice way to socialize!"" she says."
