Starr Casas learned Conjure the old-fashioned way: at home, from her relatives and ancestors. She would like to share that knowledge with a new generation of practitioners. In this foundational book, Starr leads listeners step by step toward establishing their own practice, from setting up altars to finding the right tools and creating baths, washes, and powders. Because of Starr's great experience, long-term practitioners will find topics of interest, too. Starr Casas, a veteran rootworker and traditional conjure woman, has been helping people for over thirty-five years through her ancestral art of old style conjure. She is one of the preeminent modern masters of this southern American style of folk magic, and she maintains an active teaching schedule. Starr is also among the organizers of the annual New Orleans Folk Magic Festival. Samantha Desz is a classically trained actor with extensive theater experience. She also is an experienced voice actor, working on a variety of long form voice-over projects. Samantha has a passion for learning about different cultures and lifestyles. She's lived around the U.S. and in London, England, called New York City home for nearly twenty years, and is currently living in the Midwest.
