Overview

When a woman is found murdered in the marshes near Pawleys Island, suspects and motives prove elusive as Deputy Alex Frank leads the investigation to find the killer. A quirky new neighbor next to Hanna's beach house on Pawleys Island, and a new partner for Alex with a troubling past, raise the tensions as the murder case remains unsolved and the body count begins to rise. With fears that a serial killer is on the loose in the Low Country, Sheriff Pepper Stokes calls in the FBI to assist. An FBI profiler is assigned and dives deeper into the troubling investigation. As Hanna is caught up in representing a friend in a tough divorce case, Alex's father, Skipper Frank and his wife Ella, add to the drama and chaos as their always rocky relationship faces new challenges and ultimatums. And Hanna's former friend, Grace Holloway, seeks to work her way back into Charleston society and leaves a cluttered path of devastation behind her.

Michael Lindley became an Amazon #1 bestselling author in mystery, thriller, and suspense as well as the historical thriller category with his debut novel, The Emmalee Affairs. More recently, his Hanna and Alex Low Country Suspense Thriller series has reached #1 on the Amazon bestseller charts. His novels feature stories of love and relationships challenged by tragic loss, crime, and corruption, and the many dark forces that can lie just below the surface of our fragile lives. All of Michael's books are set in idyllic locales and intriguing historical contexts. The settings include a remote resort town in Northern Michigan in the 1940s, '50s, and present-day in The Emmalee Affairs and The Summer Town; Atlanta and Grayton Beach Florida in the turbulent 1920s in Bend to the Tempest; and more recently, 1860s and present-day Charleston, Pawleys Island, and the fictional Dugganville, South Carolina, in the Hanna and Alex suspense novels. Michael writes full-time now, stepping away from a career in marketing and advertising, and divides his time between Northern Michigan and Florida. He and his wife, Karen, are also on an annual quest to visit the country's spectacular national parks. Emily Sutton-Smith is a professional actress and one of the cofounders of an Equity theater in central Michigan. Her stage credits include Out of Orbit; Doublewide; Summer Retreat; Too Much, Too Much, Too Many; Miracle on South Division Street; End Days; The Usual: A Musical Love Story; The Smell of the Kill; The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds; Maidens, Mothers and Crones; and Additional Particulars. A New York City native, she has worked onstage at almost all the Equity theaters in Michigan, including the Williamston Theatre, the Purple Rose Theatre, Performance Network Theatre, Tipping Point Theatre, the Detroit Rep, the Jewish Ensemble Theatre, and MeadowBrook Theatre. Emily is a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. Her film and TV credits include The Funeral Guest, Gifted Hands, Butterfly Effect: Revelation, The Prince of Motor City, and Nevermore.
