OverviewThe Linguistic Bibliography / Bibliographie Linguistique is the annual bibliography of theoretical linguistics published by the Permanent International Committee of Linguists under the auspices of the International Council of Philosophy and Humanistic Studies of UNESCO. With a tradition of sixty-five years, the Linguistic Bibliography is by far the most comprehensive bibliographic reference work in the field. It covers all disciplines of theoretical linguistics, both general and language specific, from all geographical areas, including endangered and extinct languages with particular attention to lesser-known Indo-European and non-Indo-European languages. Up-to-date information is guaranteed by the collaboration of some forty-five contributing specialists from all over the world. With over 20,000 titles arranged according to a subject and language classification, refined through a fine-grained keyword-system, the Linguistic Bibliography is a standard reference work for every scholar of language and linguistics. This volume has been brought up-to-date and contains extensive indexes of names, languages, and subjects. E.F.K. Koerner, Historiographia Linguistica vol. 40, no. 1-2 (2013) pp. 298-301. In previous comments I have lauded the publisher's efforts, and I am not taking back anything of what I said about this standard reference work for every serious researcher in the language sciences. Instead, I'd like to turn my attention this time to praise the editors and the team of helpers whose names appear on the main title page. Without their dedication to the task of bringing each volume of the Bibliographie Linguistique [...], we would be much poorer in terms of information on current publications in the ever broadening field of linguistic and language-related studies. Their service to the profession cannot be praised enough. E.F.K. Koerner in Historiographica Linguistica 39/2-3 (2012) Author InformationTab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
