Joseph R. Fornieri is an associate professor of political science at the Rochester Institute of Technology. A member of the Board of Advisors of the Lincoln Forum, he is the author of Abraham Lincoln's Political Faith. Sara Vaughn Gabbard is a coeditor of Lincoln and Freedom: Slavery, Emancipation, and the Thirteenth Amendment.
