Overview

Prelude This book Life and Time of LBJ &JFK (We Shall Overcome) is about Lyndon Baines Johnson and John F. Kennedy lives, where they came from and their immediate families thru their political careers. LBJ was the greatest leader I have ever known, he bought this country though some trying times such the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Civil Rights struggle, the Voter Rights struggle, Urban Riots and the Viet Nam War. Johnson was born during the time of Jim Crowism and racial divide. He bought congress together with the help of Everett Dirksen of the Republican Party and got the 1964 Civil Rights Bill signed into law. Without the help of the Republican Party, God only knows what the shape United State would be in today. The first thought that comes to the mind for many Dallas visitors is the very thing Dallas has always wanted to forget: the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which occurred on Friday, November 22, 1963. Following his assassination, there was a backlash against the entire City of Dallas' population, who were themselves plagued by grief and guilt over the painful chapter in U.S. history that had transpired in their City. Dallas became the City that killed our president. This is the furthest from the truth that could ever be imagined. The average citizen had no thought of malice toward the president, nor to a point of killing him in Dallas what so ever. However, Dallas became a ghost town. Making matters worst were White Flight to the suburbs. Dallas suffered for many years to come. Over time, buildings began to deteriorate, and some hoped a wrecking ball would demolish what seemed only to be a sad reminder of that tragic autumn afternoon. But fortunately, Dallas' overwhelming heartache did not lead to the destruction of such historically significant sites as a downtown plaza and a seven-story building at Elm and Houston Streets. Instead, these locations remain today as part of the City's and the nation's heritage. Dallas has became the number one destination in Texas for tourists. I do not know who planned the assassination, nor who fired the shots. But I am convinced there was a conspiracy. This book considers the detailed timeline of events before, during, and after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, President of the United States. Chapters in this book includes The life and Time of LBJ, Fatal Day Players, Dealey Plaza witnesses, Who Killed JFK?, Points of Interest, Interesting Facts and the Kennedy Clan. Therlee Gipson .
