License To Life

Overview

License to Life: 21 Lessons I Learned Growing Up - and How They Guide My Life is a powerful blend of memoir and personal development, grounded in real experiences and timeless values. Through twenty-one honest, reflective lessons, Tacuma Stanfield shares the principles that shaped his character-lessons rooted in loyalty, integrity, accountability, discipline, leadership, and resilience. These stories are not told from a place of perfection, but from lived experience, growth, and self-awareness. From childhood rules that demanded responsibility, to moments of failure that required humility, to leadership decisions that tested character, each chapter connects past experiences to present-day application. The result is a book that doesn't preach-it relates. It doesn't instruct-it guides. This book is for anyone navigating life's transitions, redefining success, rebuilding relationships, or striving to become a better version of themselves. Whether you're early in your journey or reflecting on the road behind you, License to Life offers insight, perspective, and reminders that growth is earned-and integrity always matters.

Author Information

Tacuma Stanfield was born to Eric and Julia and raised in Riverside, California, where his early years were shaped by family, discipline, and strong values. Growing up in a close-knit household with three brothers and a sister, Tacuma learned the importance of loyalty, accountability, and perseverance-lessons that would later become central themes in his writing and leadership. At the age of sixteen, Tacuma relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he completed high school in Covington. He went on to attend Clark Atlanta University in the fall of 2001, studying Business Administration with a focus in Management. Although he did not complete his four-year academic journey, the lessons he gained during that period-and the challenges he faced-became foundational experiences that helped shape his personal and professional path, many of which are explored in License to Life. Tacuma began his career in wireless retail in the early 2000s, working with some of the most well-known wireless providers in the United States. Over nearly two decades, his experience spanned frontline sales, sales operations, and multiple leadership roles. From 2001 through 2018, he developed a reputation for relationship-building, strategic thinking, and people-centered leadership. In 2018, Tacuma transitioned into relationship management and senior leadership roles supporting protection plan services for major big-box retailers. His work continues to focus on partnership development, team growth, and operational excellence. Outside of his professional life, Tacuma is a devoted husband and father to two daughters. He enjoys sports, traveling, fine dining, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. What he values most, however, is seeing the potential in others-helping people grow, mentoring youth and peers, and encouraging individuals to become the best version of themselves. License to Life reflects both his journey and his belief that life's most important lessons are learned through experience, reflection, and the willingness to grow.
