Overview

Libertine is the first comprehensive monograph on the vibrantly youthful clothing line of the celebrated designer and tastemaker Hartig Johnson. Similar to personal style books such as Fashionably Selby and A Perfectly Kept House, but more intimate, this brilliant volume will inspire readers on how to develop their own style, and is sure to appeal to fashionistas and the style-savvy, as well as to orbiters of fashion design, interior design, and the culturally inclined. With over 250+ color photographs, Libertine is an invitation into designer Johnson Hartig's world, offering a very personal look at his whimsical fashion designs, inspirational references, and his captivatingly eclectic home.

Johnson Hartig's book Libertine deviates sharply from the glossy norm. For one thing, it's arranged not chronologically but via a mishmash of alphabetized references. Only here will you find Andre Breton and Andy Warhol sitting cheek by jowl with Andy Williams, or the late Pat Buckley sharing real estate with the hard-core band Wasted Youth. - NEW YORK MAGAZINE ONLINE
