UNDERSTANDING IS KEY... A science subject of personal interest is theoretical physics. Theoretical physics was always the date looking for a commitment. To wax metaphorically, although non-conventional yet often alluring and paradoxical, I chose to grant her little time. OK, time to lighten up on this eccentric drivel, here. I saw a thoretical physicist lecture on U-tube. The physicist seemed to be saying do not seek the right answers but Ask the Right Questions. I was inspired. I considered writing a book. HERE'S HOW: In the ancient past westerns of the 1940's and 1950's Hollywood created a new Indian who spoke funny. There were some strange words in that crap language; Ugh, make-um, speak-um, pale face, speakum with forked tongue... You getum the idea. Of all the words in this crap language, my favorite is an Americans' (Native Americans if you must), greeting, How. How is a worthy one-word question. We can call it the HOW of undestanding. The word why is the worst interrogatory term. It even has that whiny whine sound to it, like whyyyyy? Waaaa. HOW is an effectual question that generates answers. How do you do this? How did it happen? How does it work? As old uncle Charlie, the attorney, would say, Objection, why calls for a conclusion! The liberal use of the word, HOW should be the first lesson for every grade, every year, in every classroom of America. Let us have everyone, everywhere, asking great questions and extra credit if you stump the teacher on occasion. This way we raise up an entire nation of critical thinkers--as opposed to students who stand to remain ignorant of common facts, or fantasize about contact with supernatural beings. Ignorance and fantasy relate well because neither requires one hot, tiny, lick of reason, logic, or proof.
