Overview

Learning to Respect My Strut is a commentary on the obstacles women face and the untruths they've been functioning under for a long time. By using her own personal stories against the backdrop of the historical women warriors of long ago eras, author Karen Taylor shows the deep strength of women that has been traditionally overlooked. She draws parallels between her own background and the important women in her life while demonstrating the true strut of a confident woman warrior mindset in those ancestral roots. Karen aspires to show women that there is nothing they cannot accomplish in their lives by claiming their own strut and becoming the confident, successful, people they were meant to be.

"""What I appreciate about this book is the author's voice and powerful weaving the history with her real life experiences. Learning to Respect My Strut is like a guide that any woman who has doubted herself can use to find inspiration."""

Author Information

Karen Taylor is an English instructor and Writing Center Coordinator at a local community college near her home in Western North Carolina. Karen's writing explores how women can better understand their inherent power, experience their right to freedom, and find their own strut. She is a mother of three sons, one biological, the other two acquired, of which she is fiercely proud. She calls herself humorously inappropriate, and when not writing, she can be found loving on dogs and enjoying the beach.
