Lawrence Station was originally built in 1950 by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad to replace the original Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Station built in 1883 which was destroyed by the 1951 flood. Of the six Kansas stations served by Amtrak, Lawrence was the fourth busiest in FY10, boarding or detraining an average of 14 passengers daily.
