Reviews

Dr Yeonkwon Jung's book, Korean Business Communication, is a must read for educators, researchers and practitioners interested in Korean business communication with its unique insights drawn from both theory and practice. Theoretically, it goes beyond the sophisticated stereotypes of culture to revisit and define Korean business communication from an in-depth local cultural perspective. Practically, Korean business communication genres are explored to reflect not only discourse competence, but also more importantly the sociolinguistic and strategic competence most essential for local and global business success. Yunxia Zhu, The University of Queensland Dr. Jung's seminal work on Korean business communication is a balanced overview of theories and practices of Korean business communication with well selected relevant studies. This is well researched and will be very useful to those working in business discourse, pragmatic studies, and communication studies. Readers will gain insights not only on Korean business communication but also on cross-cultural business communication. Jihyeon Jeon, Ewha Womans University, Immediate Past President of Asia TEFL
