Overview

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Kolomenskaya is an underground metro station on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line of the Moscow Metro in Moscow, Russia. Kolomenskaya Station was opened on 11 August 1969 as a part of the southern line extension of the Moscow Metro system. Although named after the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kolomenskoye Museum-Park next to it, the station is very spartan. Designed by architects L.Shagurina and V.Cheremin in the typical pillar-trispan sorokonozhka (centipede) design that was typical of the late 1960s-early 1970s, the station has a bright appearance with two rows of forty octagonal-shaped concrete pillars faced with white marble, and a floor laid with grey granite of various shades and asphalt on the platform edges.
