Kolomenskaya is an underground metro station on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line of the Moscow Metro in Moscow, Russia. Kolomenskaya Station was opened on 11 August 1969 as a part of the southern line extension of the Moscow Metro system. Although named after the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kolomenskoye Museum-Park next to it, the station is very spartan. Designed by architects L.Shagurina and V.Cheremin in the typical pillar-trispan sorokonozhka (centipede) design that was typical of the late 1960s-early 1970s, the station has a bright appearance with two rows of forty octagonal-shaped concrete pillars faced with white marble, and a floor laid with grey granite of various shades and asphalt on the platform edges.
