OverviewThough his career lasted barely a decade and a half, Klabund left a distinctive mark on early twentieth-century German literature: cosmopolitan yet intimate, experimental yet accessible, he remains a writer whose work bridges lyricism, satire, and theatrical. Klabund was the pen name of the German writer Alfred Henschke (1890-1928). Despite suffering from ""closed tuberculosis"" Klabund was a prolific writer over his short career producing numerous volumes of poetry, short stories, novels and plays.
