Author Information

A native of Hartford, CT S.M.Sellem is a playwright, choreographer, director and performing arts instructor based out of New Haven, CT. She was trained by American Intercontinental University's Media Production Program, Headlong Performance Institute of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and Yale University's Practical Approach to Directing Summer Program. She developed her passion for writing and directing play productions for Davis Street Interdistrict Magnet School in New Haven, CT from 2008-2013. Her writing credits include the following plays: Creator of OZ, All Grown Up, Night at the Davis Library, Funanya's Flowers, Feelings & Footprints, and Hope High: Class of '84, which debuted at New Haven's Long Wharf Theater along with Bregamos Community Theater to a sold-out audience. Immediately after, she began writing Legends of the Forgotten Borough, a play created to celebrate, honor and preserve the legacy of Hip-Hop R&B pioneers, The Force MD's. She is the founder and owner of Vintage Soul Productions LLC.
