Overview

The Hognose Snake, often referred to as the pig's snout snake is considered slightly poisonous but it is harmless to humans it has glands that release a slightly toxic substance into its saliva that it lets run through fangs located on the back of the upper jaw, the pig-snout snake can be found in pine forests open spaces with loose soil and dry and in captive prairies They are usually quite active during the day. They will like to bury but we will see them quite active, we will have no problem. And in captivity, they usually live a little more than 15 years. So it is an average a little higher than normal. We can find this wonderful species from northern Mexico to southern Canada. Especially for the central area. And they usually live in dry and arid areas, such as plains and savannas. Low vegetation and if possible with a lot of rock. Regarding their wild diet, they are totally opportunistic hunters. They mainly eat amphibians, but they can also eat other reptiles, including some snakes. Some birds, reptile eggs, and even some insects when they are younger. They mainly eat amphibians, but in captivity, there would be no problem giving them a rodent-based diet. I am going to recommend that you feed them every 4 days with small preys when they are adults we can feed them once a week.
