He is the author of several award-winning books on civil rights history, including Freedom Riders: 1961 and the Struggle for Racial Justice; The Sound of Freedom: Marian Anderson, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Concert That Awakened America; and Arthur Ashe: A Life. Jaime Lincoln Smith, a first-generation Jamaican American, raised in Bloomfield, Connecticut, is an actor, writer, producer, and educator. He has worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in numerous regional theaters across the country. He has enjoyed success on television and film as well, guest-starring in shows such as Law & Order, Bull, and NCIS: New Orleans, to name a few.
