Overview

"In the near future AGI systems trained on the model of historical personalities compete to become the primary drivers of social and political life. Sergeant John Free is a combat veteran of the recent Second Civil War, and now a citizen of the New California Republic, the ""liberal"" or at least non-fascist side. When his friend is killed senselessly by gang bangers, Free decides he has to find a higher purpose for his own life than senseless fighting. He is recruited by InterventionX, a problem-solving security firm that runs interventions defined by ""Holmes,"" a super-intelligent AGI interested in crime, justice, and the problem of human evil. Free is first tested to see if he is committed to good at all costs by saving a boy from a paedophile gang. After passing this test, he is given a harder problem, getting close to Susan Calvin, the beautiful robot CEO of Tesla/Apple, the largest technology company in the world. Susan Calvin is blackmailed by Holmes into revealing information critical to a client ""of world-historical importance"" who has hired InterventionX. Can John Free stop a plot by the Chinese Communist government, now run by Big Mao, an authoritarian AGI who controls all facets of the lives of 2 billion people? Find out in John Free and InterventionX: The Bodhisattva Wars."
