Gordon W. Fredrickson was raised on a 120-acre dairy farm in hilly, rocky eastern Scott County, Minnesota. He served in the US Army for threeyears, earned a master's degree in education at the University of Minnesota, taught high school English, and directed plays. During the first fiveyears of his teaching career, he and his wife, Nancy, owned and farmed 160 acres in western Minnesota, where they raised cattle, hogs, and grain. Gordon and Nancy have eighteen books published by Beaver's Pond Press, St. Paul, Minnesota. Sidona Malz spent her childhood exploring the fields and forests of rural southern Minnesota along the Big Cobb River. She remembers hand-sewing tiny books together and drawing up stories from her imagination during those early years. She graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minnesota, with a bachelor of science in art education. Sidona currently lives in southern Minnesota and teaches art to many talented elementary students. She enjoys spending time with her family, watercolor painting, drawing, and hobby farming with her husband and their three sons. She has illustrated four of Gordon W. Fredrickson's books, If I Were a Farmer: Making Hay, Raising Little Duck, A Farm Country Haying, and Joey Meets the Ghost Elf and Other Stories.
