OverviewJoan Mitchell: Worlds of colour is the first exhibition in Australia to explore the work of this North American artist, surveying the series of prints that she created at Tyler Graphics in 1981 and 1992. Born in Chicago, Mitchell emerged in the early 1950s as a leading figure in the New York School of Abstract Expressionism. From 1955 she lived and worked between the United States of America and France, settling permanently in Vtheuil, near Paris, in 1968. This publication explores Mitchell's dedication to abstraction and how she translated her approach to painting through printmaking techniques.
