Overview

Duke signed up during the height of the Vietnam War. Bitter and disillusioned upon his return, his talents were soon discovered by the C.I.A. and those training for Special Forces units. They trained him to become part of the most lethal team in its most elite corps. When word reaches the joint chiefs of staff that trouble in the uranium rich African nation of Gabon could have global implications, it is decided they must employ Duke's unique leadership qualities and those of his Alpha team. What Duke didn't realize was that he was part of a rogue operation conceived by deputy director Larry Walker to use the Alpha team to handle his own dirty work, and get a long sought taste of revenge. Duke winds up in the most unimaginable scenario from his darkest nightmare. Pere became what many clerics hope to become, a symbol of light, of hope, and of freedom, granting them a joie de vivre. His problem, however was that in his efforts to help the common man, forces with not so noble aims, desired to use his charisma and love of the people for their own ends, which were greed, power, and control. They were anything but noble. Larry Walker is a deputy director for America's top intelligence network, and because some freak event, caused by a terror attack in what was then the country of Zaire, results in his fiance's death, he vows to have his revenge on the man he deems most responsible for her death. Right or wrong, he will avenge the loss of his affianced. What starts out as a not-so-typical meeting of the joint Chiefs of Staff, morphs into an operation with Walker at the helm, and everyone else little more than pawns in his own game of chess, a death match. And he didn't care if the brass eventually caught on. It was fool-proof. Leon is Pere's most loyal friend. Having had his family saved through Pere's efforts, Leon is sworn to be by Pere's side no matter the consequences; and in a tiny jungle village of Dumbase, after having refused an opportunity to escape the mystery unfolding around him, Leon will share whatever fate awaits him and his beloved Pere. Jacob's Rose unfolds as a series of events, current, and flashbacks that follow the lives of a second generation family of Irish immigrants who moved into Louisiana in the early 1900's. It tells of siblings who grew up as close as brothers could be, in a typically close-knit family setting. That is until they both are enamored of the same girl as one is beginning college at Notre Dame, and the other is finishing High School. Elements of anger, disillusionment, and jealousy threaten to completely disrupt the lives of all members of the family; and brothers and sister all embark on different futures knowing nothing of the incredible events that would bring them together again. .
