Historical fiction is a literary genre that provides the writer with tremendous scope and Robert Barclay doesn't waste that potential. The story paints a graphic picture of the mayhem and dislocation that war brings to a civilian population, and provides the readers with intriguing insights... Ottawa Review of Books This is a wonderful tale of fiction. The historical events in the novel are accurate and extremely detailed. The intrigue [Barclay] draws through Jacob's espionage assignments is a real strength of this novel. While music is clearly the trumpeter's main love, this 17th century James Bond has little time to engage in it.
