Overview

People are capable of the most generous and unselfish acts, and also the most destructive and terrible. Is there such a thing as the real human nature? Read and understand amazing insights and opportunities for the future. Explore possibilities that have never before been considered, and discover a completely new way to approach life and reclaim our birthright. Analyzing decades of psychological research, this book delves deeply into human psychology and history to show us how we got to where we are now. On this journey, you will learn: How we get stuck in circular reasoning and self-deception that prevent us from seeing solutions to our most vexing issues. The best ways to solve our problems are elusive, because they are often counterintuitive. What really causes violence, and what we can do about it. The idea that things were better in the past is an illusion. We have actually made tremendous progress.

Author Information

Dr. Sharon Flaherty, a psychologist in practice for forty years, has worked with children, adults and families in individual, group and other settings. After accepting a grant from NIMH (National Institute for Mental Health), she received her Ph.D. in 1984. Dr. Flaherty's gifts include an unquenchable desire to learn and a beginner's mind, coupled with a vision that goes beyond the limitations of what is known and accepted. Now semi-retired, Dr. Flaherty has the time and enthusiasm to spread the word about life-changing ideas and possibilities, largely overlooked, even by psychologists. Her unique perspective offers a vision of empowerment and hope. She lives in New Jersey with her family.
