Irish Constituencies in the Unreformed House of Commons

Overview

Before 1832 the British House of Commons was unreformed. It was elected by a franchise which allowed only around 0.5 per cent of the total population the vote! In this series all of the constituencies are detailed with informative profiles and interesting facts, and supplemented with colour photographs which enrich the profiles. This volume looks at the constituencies of Ireland which joined the Union sending members to the House of Commons from 1801.

Author Information

The author is a graduate from the University of St Andrews, and his long held fascination with both the Unreformed House of Commons before the 1832 Great Reform Act, and of the Whig-Tory dichotomy is made evident in this enthralling and substantive work. It is one of those rare gems which few writers dare approach, a topic misunderstood or unknown to many, but one which would fascinate most. This guide and the authors handling of the subject material are sure to make it a near definitive work on this topic for years to come.
