OverviewInvesting in Asia is not a threat but a challenge for European economies. This text shows that although Europe is lagging behind the USA and Japan in investment flows to Asia, this can be overcome by policies which encourage investors on both sides. Partnerships between European and Asian enterprises can be beneficial for both economies and can create jobs. The opening up of Asian economies has created the conditions which provide greater safeguards for investors and a more attractive environment for European enterprises. This text presents the contributions to and conclusions of a joint event organised by the Asian Development Bank and the OCED Development Centre.
