"Internet an overview We can trace back the history of Internet in the United States, from where it begun in 1960s and took a rapid growth till the 1990s and it has its impact on the world‟s society, technically, politically and economically over more than four decades. Internet has provided such a tool of communication between that is sweeping through the world and nothing has happened like this earlier (Dinnick, 2000). Initially we saw only the positive impact, but the negative impact came later, because it has close relation with development of Internet. This chapter is showcasing how the Internet development took place; this chapter ends with at future development of Internet. A chronology of Internet events related to the growth of Internet is presented at the end of the chapter. Internet is considered as one of the most outstanding innovation in the area of communication in the history of human civilization (as cited in Lamber et., al, 2005). 1.2 Initiation of Internet Simply speaking an ""Internet"" is a network which connects computers. Internet is a World- Wide mechanism for communication between user to user, computer to computer that has crossed all set boundaries (Milller, 2004). We know ""Internet"" today as World Wide Web (www) also, which came in to existence way back in 1969 in United States. At that time ""The Internet"" was designed high speed network built the US Department of Defence as a digital communication experiment. It had linked hundreds of universities, research labs, and defence controls at that time. It used to be known as ARPA net. It was Gary Thuerk who has sent first time spam email to more than four hundred users ARPANET, that was actually an advertisement of new range of minicomputers (Altavilla,2010). The computer network belongs the United States. Advance Research Project Agency (ARPA) let artificial intelligence (AI) researchers in different areas exchange crucial information with very high speed and flexibility. Simply put, Artificial Intelligence is the computer science branch related with making."
