The Indian Star Tortoise (Geochelone elegans) is a small to medium-sized tortoise known for its remarkable look and unusual star-patterned shell. This pattern, produced by radiating yellow or beige lines emerging from the center of each scute (the individual plates that comprise the shell), provides both aesthetic appeal and a degree of concealment in its natural environment.
