Overview"After driving for what seemed like hours, we hit our last town. This Iraqi in a white robe figured out I was a girl. He was persistent. He stared at me the entire hour and a half we were there. He gave me the creeps. Sometimes I can read people and empathize, but on the flip side, I can read the bad people too. He didn't have good thoughts. I had the distinct feeling he would like to humiliate me in some way. And it wasn't that he didn't smile, because he did. But between the whispering, stares, and the way he treated the others, I could tell he wasn't a good person. I couldn't wait to leave there. Some of our male soldiers don't feel much safer. I'm pursued constantly, usually by superiors (a no-no), and unfortunately many of them married who just don't care. I was lost on a new base at night after dinner and these motor pool soldiers refused to give me directions to get back. They wanted me to stay. I was terrified. It took me almost 30 minutes to talk my way out of by promising to come back. I never did. My own team used me too. If they needed anything they would send me as the ""cute girl."" I may has well have been a slab of meat to these guys."
