Overview

Lindsey always knew she wanted to be a detective. Her inspiration came after reading about the murders committed by Ted Bundy, who grew up in her hometown of Tacoma, Washington. Also seared into her memory was the 1986 murder of a young girl who'd been out for a bike ride when she went missing. The teen was later found murdered, but the case was never solved. The senseless killing of an innocent young girl would leave a black cloud over Tacoma for three decades. Lindsey's twenty-one-year law enforcement career was motivated by the horrifying crimes against young women and girls that impacted her and ignited her pursuit of justice for victims. Take a walk in her shoes as Detective Wade investigates some of the most shocking sex crimes and homicides in the Tacoma area. Her unique perspective as a biracial female detective working in a male dominated profession gave Lindsey a special connection to the victims and families she helped. In 2018, dogged determination along with her unwavering passion for solving cold cases ultimately led Detective Wade and her team to solve the thirty-two-year-old mystery of who killed the girl from 1986.

Author Information

"Lindsey Wade served as a Tacoma Police Officer for twenty-one years. She has an impressive track record of utilizing her keen investigative instincts to solve violent crimes. During her fourteen years as a detective, she investigated sexual assaults, child abuse, missing persons, and homicides. She retired in 2018 as the Tacoma Police Department's cold case detective. After retiring from the Tacoma Police Department, Lindsey joined the Washington State Attorney General's Office as a Senior Investigator assigned to the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative to pursue her passion-using DNA to solve cold cases. In 2019, Lindsey worked with state legislators to pass a new DNA law in Washington known as Jennifer & Michella's Law. Lindsey is a member of the National Institute of Justice Cold Case Working Group, the International Homicide Investigators Association, and in 2017, she created the Washington State Cold Case Working Group. She is a former member of the FBI ViCAP National Advisory Board and teaches child abduction response and cold case investigations for the National Criminal Justice Training Center at Fox Valley Technical College. As a subject matter expert, Lindsey has been a speaker at numerous law enforcement conferences around the country, lecturing on cold cases, sex crimes, DNA, and child abduction response. Patricia Santomasso has always been an avid reader and storyteller. Her love of literature led her to earn a BA in English, and shortly afterward she moved from Connecticut to New York to study theater. She worked for years on stages around the country doing mostly classical plays and Shakespeare. It was there she met her husband, narrator Sean Patrick Hopkins, doing a production of As You Like It. Now she has merged her love of acting and the written word and happily reads stories out loud from the comfort of a booth. To date she has recorded over 150 audiobooks. Patricia's youthful voice and comic timing give heroines a warm relatability, and her surprising dips into baritone make her male characters engaging and believable. Paste Magazine has called her narration style ""warm-but-tart,"" which she agrees is a fitting description. Patricia and Sean have a sweet baby daughter, Lyra Roisin, who isn't much interested in hearing either one of them read to her."
