Author Information

Sharon Williams is Professor and Lead of the Swansea Centre for Improvement and Innovation at the College of Human & Health Sciences, Swansea University, UK. Previously, she was an Improvement Science Fellow sponsored by the Health Foundation. Before joining Swansea Sharon was a lecturer in Logistics and Operations Management at Cardiff Business School, UK, and a senior member of the Clinical Systems Improvement team at Warwick University Medical School, UK. Her research looks at co-production and the design of patient care pathways using improvement and redesign techniques originating largely from other sectors.   Lynne Caley has worked as an independent consultant for the past 14 years primarily in the field of improvement science, with a particular interest in evaluation and measurement. She has a first degree in economics from Cambridge and a doctorate from University of Sussex, UK; her thesis was concerned with work-related learning. Before becoming a consultant Lynne worked with and for the Universities of Cambridge, Warwick, Leeds and Swansea.  Until recently Lynne was a Trustee of the Clinical Human Factors Group, and she maintains a deep interest in patient safety and human factors relevant to the delivery of safe healthcare.
