OverviewIn response to the climate change effects taking place all over the world, the Government of Pakistan in 2009 decided to initiate a national level climate change policy for Pakistan. This initiative was a flagship programme of the Ministry of Environment with partner UN agencies. Although the climate change policy was successfully developed, documented and endorsed by the parliament in 2009 it appeared to have some gaps visible in it. Further analysis of this policy showed that if corrective measures were suggested these gaps could be minimized and a better framework to tackle this global menace could be developed. This paper is the first step in this initiative. The following pages give a detailed analysis of the current National policy on climate change in Pakistan and suggests corrective measures that will help polish this policy in a more realistically achievable document.
