The red sores or blisters caused by impetigo, a contagious skin infection, are most commonly found in the mouth and nose areas, however they can appear anywhere on the body. Impetigo is most frequent in kids, although it can affect adults as well. Impetigo can be divided into two main categories: 1. Most cases of impetigo are of the nonbullous variety. Transmission occurs either through skin-to-skin contact or indirect contact with contaminated surfaces or items. Although most cases of this virus are mild, they are nevertheless annoying and spread easily.
