Overview

The Imperial Valley of southeastern California and the U.S./Mexico border is a place with a heavy history and an uncertain future. William T. Vollmann is the author of 17 books, including Europe Central (Viking, 2005), winner of the National Book Award. He has also won the Whiting Writers Award, the PEN Center/USA West Award, and the Strauss Living Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He lives in California.
