There are two subjects in these portraits--model and photographer. The girl, a self-conscious young beauty, and the photographer, hyper-aware of the camera's possibilities and its presence. The woman and the photographer, lifelong friends, have no need for artifice; the camera has become transparent.-- Joan Lyons, photographer and bookmaker
