Reviews

"""Peter is a giant. My admiration for all he has accomplished is immense."" -Chris Zimmerman, CEO and president, St. Louis Blues ""Advertising agencies are about swagger-ego-driven players who thrive on noise. Not so with Peter Friedman. His bravado is pursuing creative excellence by enhancing the best ideas of others. And doing it brilliantly, time after time. That's why he is one of the most sought-after agency producers in America. Peter calls himself an 'unknown ad guy.' Well, if you're in the ad business, you know Peter-or you live under a rock. His humility prevents calling attention to himself, and that's exactly why celebrities flock to him. His ability to earn celebrities' trust is unparalleled and is why these icons deliver their best performances. I'll Get the Tip is a fantastic glimpse inside the minds of our most celebrated icons, told by a brilliant storyteller who's worked alongside them all.""-Jeff Devlin, chief marketing officer, Deloitte ""I've been waiting for someone clever to write a book like this, and I can't think of a better person to do it than Peter Friedman. He was a brilliant head of production at McCann who inspired me-and all these years later, is still doing it."" -Nina DiSesa Goodall, former chairman and chief creative officer, McCann Erickson ""Peter has witnessed more history-making moments in our business than most-and tells the stories with his trademark generosity, humility, and humor. Throughout the book, he shares moments with some of the biggest personalities in the world, but in ways that make them intimate, relatable, and personal. For Peter, it's never just been about the production. It's always been about the people."" -John Boiler, former CEO, 72andSunny"

Author Information

"Peter Friedman has spent his entire professional life as a television commercial and video producer. His five- decade career includes heading the Lucasfilm commer- cial production company, serving as the first global head of television production for Nike, running the worldwide broadcast production team for McCann Erickson, and act- ing as the production head for PGA Tour Entertainment. From Michael Jordan to Justin Bieber, Bill Clinton to Bono, and Ted Kennedy to Tiger Woods, Peter has worked with an astounding list of celebrities. Having filmed around the world while largely based in New York and Los Angeles, Peter now lives more quietly in Newtown, Connecticut. But don't call him retired; he's still producing commercials and a variety of video content as a consultant for several top brands. Grant Copeland is the president and chief creative offi- cer of WORX, a Connecticut-based marketing agency. A friend (and fan) of Peter's, Grant casually remarked that he ""might be able to help write something about your career"" while the two drove to a New York Islanders game a few years ago. And now, here they are."
