OverviewThe main focus of this paper is to analyse how the processes of construction of Cape Verdean identity and cultures have taken place and to illustrate possible avenues for the construction of a decolonial and anti-racist identity, valuing its singularities and differences. On the other hand, this analysis seeks to offer an understanding of the tension between identity and difference in the construction of Cape Verdean culture and is supported by Frantz Fanon's philosophical and social thinking on the issue of race and colonisation, presented above all in his book Black Skin White Masks. This is why we believe that, through his conceptual reflections and analyses of the situation of black people, he offers us a basis for thinking about certain aspects of the construction of Cape Verdean cultural identity, especially those relating to the possibilities of affirming a decolonised and anti-racist Cape Verdean identity.
