OverviewMeet Ida Mae. You'll learn to love her as she evolves from a spirited thirteen-year-old into a woman, first journeying from Mammoth Falls, West Virginia, to Pitt University on a music scholarship, and from there to Vietnam as a member of the Women's Army Corps. After the loss of her husband in Nam, the Ball Buster's Bash in San Francisco serves as a fine diversion, as does her experience as a salesperson at Holly's Hat on Rodeo Drive in Hollywood, California. She arrives back home in West Virginia in time to travel with friends to Woodstock. Eventually, along with her second husband, Dennis, and her son, Adrian, she travels to Chautauqua, a gated summer resort in northwestern New York, where her adventures and those of her son continue. Table of ContentsReviews"""It is a unique coming of age novel in that it covers two generations-that of Ida Mae herself and that of her son, as well as the experiences of many of their friends. [The author does] an excellent job of switching midstory from one narrator to another who relates their own stories. [The] novel is fast moving and will no doubt hold the interest of the reader. As a storyteller myself, I appreciate that Ida Mae allows the reader to use his or her own imagination by not getting bogged down with [too much] detail."" -Madelyn Rohrer, Author, Member of the National Storytelling Network, the Lost State Writers Guild, Virginia Writers Club, and the Appalachian Authors Guild ""Mr. Taylor paints a diverse and inclusive cast of characters in Ida Mae's story. From a father who doesn't talk much to a neighbor with proven psychic powers and an ugly musician with a big heart and a hair trigger, . . . Ida Mae will take you far from home and back in the latter decades of the last century. Through grief and praise, and onward with the next generation, her coming-of-age story might call to mind your own. Enjoy both."" -Jon Howe, Author of Shanghaied ""Rick Taylor delivers a powerful second novel with Ida Mae and Her Passage to Chautauqua. Crisply written and packed with adventure, Ida Mae is a satisfying story of rebirth and redemption."" -Ken Gormley, New York Times bestselling author and President of Duquesne University."
