OverviewComing April 26th. Pre-orders available now. What does it mean to love someone well? What does it mean to be a good daughter, or a good wife? What does it look like to step outside the way these roles have been prescribed to us? In her debut full-length collection, I Now Pronounce You, Caroline Earleywine explores these questions and more as she takes us on the journey of a daughter processing the emotional landscape of her parents' divorce, an Arkansas public school teacher coming to terms with her queerness, and a wife navigating the vulnerable work it takes to love your partner along with yourself as you both grow and change. Earleywine's lyricism is as sharp as it is inviting, and so is her portrayal of a more nuanced truth. She leaves no stone unturned in her quest to free herself from the weight of shame and silence while trying to honor the truth of those around her. She's a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee, was a 2021 finalist for Nimrod's Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry, and has work in Glass: A Journal of Poetry, Barrelhouse, NAILED Magazine, and elsewhere. She earned her MFA from Queens University in Charlotte and her chapbook, Lesbian Fashion Struggles, was published with Sibling Rivalry Press in 2020. I Now Pronounce You is her first full-length collection. She lives in Little Rock with her wife and two dogs. You can keep up with her work at www.carolineearleywine.com. Table of ContentsReviews"I Now Pronounce You is gorgeous, vulnerable, resonant, and wonderfully queer. Caroline Earleywine takes everything she knows about love and examines it from new angles, questioning what it means to truly care for another person. I love this collection with my whole heart and already know I'll return to it again and again."" -Susie Dumond, author of Queerly Beloved and Looking for a Sign In I Now Pronounce You, Caroline Earleywine brilliantly sets the stage for grief, and she invites us onto that stage where I am split open, my lines forgotten, but I am startlingly myself. Tenderly-crafted, both elegiac and celebratory, these poems interrogate the inherited scripts society tries to force onto women and queer people, onto what love is supposed to look like. Grief is in the spotlight, and yet, this book is romantic as hell-Earleywine writes necessary new endings to our collective queer aching, because ""some stories can't stay inside the body."" A stunning debut. -Lisa Summe, author of Say It Hurts I Now Pronounce You is a tender missive; a queer love letter to the unsanded edges of childhood, desire, betrayal, and belonging. Earleywine's narrative voice is fantastically honest, both wounding and soothing us at the same time. -Sierra DeMulder, author of Ephemera, Today Means Amen, We Slept Here, New Shoes on a Dead Horse, and The Bones Below" Author InformationCaroline Earleywine is a poet and educator who has 10 years of experience teaching high school English in Central Arkansas.
