Overview

"""I Hope She Reads This"" is a poignant collection of poems that delve deep into the emotional landscape of its author, Titus Peoples, during the tumultuous times of the 2020 quarantine. This book stands as a testament to the power of introspection, creativity, and the therapeutic process, offering readers a window into the soul of someone grappling with the complexities of love, loss, and self-discovery against the backdrop of global uncertainty. Titus Peoples harnesses the isolation and introspection brought on by the quarantine as a catalyst for creativity and healing. The enforced solitude becomes a double-edged sword, cutting into the fabric of his daily life while simultaneously opening up a wellspring of emotional and artistic exploration. Each poem in the collection is not just a piece of writing but a fragment of a conversation-both with the self and with the unseen other, the ""she"" who becomes both muse and mystery throughout the pages. ""I Hope She Reads This"" is more than just a book of poems; it is a journey through the heart of darkness and back into the light. Titus Peoples invites us to walk with him through his most vulnerable moments, offering a beacon of hope to those who might feel lost in their quarantines of the soul. It is a reminder that even in our isolation, we are not alone and that the act of creation can be a powerful form of connection and healing. The Notes: I HOPE SHE READS THIS I Hope She Reads This is a free verse collection of poems, purposely structured and crafted by Titus Peoples You will first notice that all but 2 of the poems are short, quick, and to the point. They read like thoughts. The majority of these poems are 6 and 7 lines long. I was inspired by the Lil Wayne song 6 foot 7. I listened to a lot of Weezy working on and structuring this book. The overuse of the word ""IN"". You're IN my thoughts, as I was IN my feelings as I was writing these poems. I need you IN the moment. The She...She is an acronym that can mean several different things, Self Healing Exercises and Self Harm Exercises. To be fully transparent with you. I was bad as hell when I was a kid, to the point my grandmother sent me away for my behavior. This is where I learned the concept of She (Self Healing Exercises). Some love to dance, and some love drawing. My thing is writing. Writing has been my self-healing exercise for years. I hope she reads this... Is me telling coping mechanisms I hope you see I'm doing what I learned and trying to be a better person every day. I'm not angry anymore, I don't want to hurt anyone, I want to live righteous. And last be not least, the foreword. What better way to introduce the world to my thoughts than to have a person that deals with them on a regular basis. My therapist. She was the last piece included in my book and I didn't want to write it unless she read the it first. I hope you all enjoy this collection of poems. Thank you."
