This story shows how adversity shows up in the path of a girl at a young age, yet she continues to live her dreams while serving others locally and becoming a national voice during the Black Lives Matter Movement as she serves as the 60th mayor, COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, hits which causes the city to face different hardships and decisions that no mayor has had to imagine or experienced. As a native, she stands firm that Atlanta is her home and vows that it will uphold its legacy of compassion and tolerance. As part of her equity platform, she created the first Director of LGBTQ Affairs position as well as appointed an LGBTQ Advisory Board while serving One Atlanta. This story exemplifies how a working mother perseveres while still caring for her children and family. Brown Girl Resilience Books shows homage to people of color and their struggles.
