Author Information

At nineteen years of age, Andrea courageously testified against her stepfather, alleging sexual abuse. He left the country before his arraignment. Thirty-nine years later, she finally got justice. When he returned to the United States, the statute of limitations had expired on her case. However, a neighbor she grew up with had an open case against him. Once again, Andrea testified, and her stepfather was finally convicted. She sat in the courtroom as he was charged, arrested, and taken to prison.Andrea is passionate about advocating for those who have suffered from child sexual abuse and domestic violence. She has shared her testimony of overcoming the shame and feelings of worthlessness that sexual abuse imparts both locally and Internationally. She has a heart to help those suffering from the effects of child abuse. By vulnerably sharing her personal story, she models the way, identifying life events that have narrated a false identity. By embracing the broken places, we can replace the lies with truths and live the rich, full life that God intends for us to have.In her debut book, I Am Not Your Prey, she exposes the grooming process and shows the coping skills developed by a child dealing with sexual abuse. The study guide included in the book will assist readers by providing thought-provoking questions based on the book's content. Her second book in the Shattering Shame Series, The Prey Takes Flight, will show how her shame and fear manifested their way into her teen and young adult years and the consequences of decisions she makes when she fails to understand her worth.Andrea lives in San Diego with her husband Andy and teenage son Aidan. She is part of the local Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians. Currently, she is collaborating with another local author to create an educational presentation for local schools to bring awareness of the grooming process and assists in finding credible resources for victims of child abuse. Shane Svorec is a lifelong writer and author who currently resides in New Jersey, along with her husband, three children, rescue dogs, and chickens. Best described as a traveling gypsy with the heart of a hippie and the faith of a missionary, Shane uses her hardships to connect, inspire and encourage others. Refusing to allow her past or circumstances to define her, she searches for the light in dark times and shows others how they can do the same. Having traveled across the country as a child, she's lived in more places than she can count and has stories to connect them all like destination dots on a map. Shane writes with such colorful and palpable descriptions; readers feel they can see the world through the back seat of a VW bus along with her. She credits her unconventional and adventurous upbringing for becoming an observant, resilient, flexible, brave, and empathetic woman and honest writer.Once a child of the state, who later became a foster parent, Shane has made it her life mission to advocate for those without a voice. Using her many life experiences to connect with others, her writing reaches and touches readers of all ages. A proud mother, animal lover, believer in angels, and faith-filled woman, she is highly involved in her community, an active member of her church, public servant, member of her local Board of Education, mental health and crisis intervention worker, perpetual peacemaker, and kindness spreader. Yvonne Sotelo was born and raised in Indio, California. She is a woman after God's own heart, and she is passionate about helping those who have suffered from child abuse to reach their destiny. As a former victim, Yvonne understands the many emotional behaviors and the confusion that can follow being victimized. Her heart aches for those who are suffering and who are held in captivity by hopelessness and isolation. Yvonne's goal is to share her testimony to inspire people to forgive themselves and their abusers, so they can be free to live the life God has created for them. In 2010, Yvonne started her journey, serving in a Women's Bible Study and the Singles Ministry in Mesa, Arizona. She is currently serving in the Children's Ministry in San Diego, California. With a Master of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, she has helped many people find their path by coaching, guiding, and inspiring them to get out of their comfort zones and pursue God. Yvonne will forever give all honor and glory to Jesus Christ for all of her accomplishments, and she looks forward to reaching out to the lost and brokenhearted. Her hope is for everyone to be able to spread their wings like a butterfly and become the people God intended them to be. --This text refers to the paperback edition.
